At Fulford Fitness we know that training for a marathon is never smooth or problem-free. Every runner, from first-timer to marathon veteran, hits one or two hurdles while training for a marathon: an injury, a cold, work or family commitments. After all if things came more easily than this, completing a marathon wouldn't be the major achievement that it is.

Deep Tissue Massage is a vital part of any exercise programme; it’s an ideal way to combat aches and pain and boost your performance. It is described as the management, manipulation and rehabilitation of the body’s soft tissues; muscles, ligaments and tendons. The massage encompasses various special techniques involving the massage therapist to work into the tissues and muscle fibers so that the body returns to a pre-exercise state. Once the muscles are warmed up, gentle manipulation begins and gradually the muscles are worked into, getting gradually deeper.
The benefits of massage are numerous both physically and psychologically. The stroking movements and manipulation during the massage will aid circulation, lymphatic flow and the removal of metabolic waste, stimulate nerve endings, break down scar tissue, and reduce mental tension and stress.
