A fondness for cakes and my sedentary lifestyle working from home had taken its toll and it was time to do something about it! Liz came round, took some measurements and created a plan for me to increase exercise and lose weight.
Before meeting Liz I would have been hard pressed to run sixty yards; just walking up the hills of Fiveways was a task. Within two months Liz had me running well over a mile. By mid-March I had comfortably completed a six-mile Sport Relief run on Madeira Drive. Now I am planning my next goal. Perhaps I will go for a couple of 10km runs and a half marathon?
Whatever your goal, if you wish to increase your fitness and lose some weight than I can not begin to recommend Liz highly enough. She has successfully motivated me to run further than I ever imagined possible. She is the only personal trainer I would ever have.
I now regularly run the length of Stanford Avenue – uphill – and I have cut down on my cakes …even if Liz does still think that I eat too many!
I can honestly say I achieved much more through working with Liz than I have through any other kind of fitness programme. In just three months, I went from being able to run just a few hundred yards to running five miles or more. At 43, I’m now fitter than I’ve been at any other stage of my life. Forget gym memberships: if you’re serious about getting fit, Liz is the answer.
My goal was to run the New Forest half marathon on September 16th in under 2 hours. I remember the first actual training session I did with Liz; 2 mins walking, 2 minutes running for half an hour plus a few press ups and other exercises. Honestly I thought I was going to collapse!! How could I ever run non stop for 2 hours and 13.1 miles?
The amazing thing is that 6 months later I actually did it! One hour 58 minutes and one second to be precise and I felt absolutely brilliant!! All the way up to the last few week I doubted my ability to actually do the race in sub two hours but in testimony to the professional knowledge and experience of Liz my training program was perfectly timed so that on the day there I was: trotting around the new Forest with the wild ponies and crossing the finish line with nearly two full minutes spare!
Quite a few times I had little niggling pains or aches that without the right advice may have been enough to stop my forward progress in its tracks. Liz was always there and very willing to give advice on any concerns I might voice.
I have felt lots of improvements from my training. It so happens I bought a new pair of jeans just before starting my program…nice snug fit, not too tight but certainly not at all baggy. Those jeans have been an inspiration to me! Now they drop to my ankles without even undoing the button!! With this weight loss and increased stamina I find I can get more done in one day than ever before. Previously at 9pm almost every night I would hit a fatigue wall and be pretty useless for the rest of the evening, now this just doesn’t happen.
Liz is brilliant at her job, she always encourages you and is always there with advice and a genuine interest in your progress and you can tell from Liz’s response to your little personal victories that she loves her job and she shares in your feeling of achievement.
When I first met Liz my goal was to have the confidence to complete short runs outside and to develop a programme which fits into my life and doesn’t feel like a chore. Liz encouraged me every step of the way. She always pushes hard enough so that I feel I have achieved something, but not so hard that it seems like an impossible task. Liz has kept me motivated and gives me programmes which I enjoy. I really look forward to our sessions – Liz has been a brilliant personal trainer.
One of my friends suggested I contact Liz and I have been training with her since 2009. I would certainly recommend her if you are looking to improve your fitness and have fun at the same time. With a low boredom threshold, the gym was not for me. When I started, my goal was to exercise at least once a week and tone up. No two sessions are the same and Liz has this great trick of making you work without you really noticing it! Despite the early mornings, by the end of an hour I feel great and those areas that have the potential to droop and wobble are denied the opportunity.
Like many people, I want to be fitter, lose weight, tone up, and guard my health against obesity-related illness. As I am over 50 and was quite unfit when we started, Liz monitored my heart rate closely in our early sessions. I was impressed with Liz’s thorough initial assessment and questionnaire about my lifestyle, exercise and diet. Having regular sessions with Liz has improved my health and sense of well being, as well as physical fitness. Sessions with Liz are never boring and I always feel I am being pushed in a realistic way but not too much. I was surprised at how much and how quickly my fitness improved over our first series of weekly sessions. I now seem to have fewer colds, I cope better with long days at work, and I think I am even sleeping better. Like any professional service, personal trainers are not cheap. But for me it has been a good investment.
Thank you so much being the best trainer anyone could wish for. You gave me the best training schedule, so varied I never got bored & just made me love running even more! Thank you for being so inspirational, for keeping me going when I was knackered (!), for telling me to rest when I was ill (& teaching me I wouldn’t fall back further in my training by resting) & just generally being as involved & intent as I am to achieve this marathon! Thanks for all the advice from knickers to nutrition (& everything else you can think of!) I would recommend you to anyone who has a dream & wants to achieve it.
Having tried all the usual fitness regimes of classes, gym and running, I was bored and in a rut. I wanted to improve my running distance and after just a couple of months with Liz I reached my target of 10kms. Now, nearly 2 years on, I still look forward to my weekly sessions with Liz. Every week it’s something different and it’s always challenging but really good fun. I thought I was fairly fit before I met Liz but her knowledge and enthusiasm as a trainer soon showed me just how much fitter and stronger I could be. I’ve never felt fitter.
In late October 2009 I decided to challenge myself to loosing some weight, getting fit and raising some money for charity…I had signed up to run the vey first Brighton Marathon!!! Two months into my training I got Liz onboard to help with my training and if I hadn’t….I really don’t think I would have even got to the starting line. Liz opened my eyes to the reality of the challenge I had set myself and straight away got me onto a proper and thorough training plan. Throughout my training, Liz was there every step of the way, asking for progress reports on the training schedule she had set me for that week, texting me to see how my runs went and being a constant professional support every step of the way. From the essential core training exercises and different types of runs (allowing me to increase my fitness level), to explaining all the ‘science techy’ bits I needed to know about how my body works and what the exercises were doing to me. Liz ensured I was fully prepared physically and mentally and made sure I had a great fun filled marathon experience.
Liz is a great motivator and keeps you on track with a well judged blend of challenge and humour. I really enjoy our sessions and love the fact that my fitness level has improved so much.
Liz is an excellent personal trainer. She is enthusiastic, patient and friendly – never intimidating. She has transformed my whole attitude to exercise: previously an exercise-phobe, I now run every week and follow the programmes she sets for me. I feel fitter, stronger and healthier and I would recommend her to anyone.
Twelve months after my second child was born, I decided the time was right to reclaim my body and shift the extra 3 stone I had accumulated over the preceding couple of years. As someone who had flirted with a bit of jogging and aerobics in the past but had never stuck to anything for very long, I knew I needed to be accountable to someone if I was to be serious about reaching my goals and embedding some exercise and discipline into my daily routine. I called a few personal trainers and was immediately struck with how warm and friendly Liz was – it was like talking to an old girlfriend. In our conversation, she made everything possible and accessible and with that boost to my confidence, I could see a light at the end of the tunnel. And so began a long-standing relationship with Liz that took me from being an absolute novice to running 5k, 10k and half marathons within a 12-18 month period. Fundamental to achieving these distances was the core stability and resistance work we did at home or, in good weather, in the park. Underpinning Liz’s natural warmth and great sense of humour is a determination and focus towards helping you to achieve your goals. But she does this in an almost imperceptible and fun way as opposed to taking a drill-sergeant approach which wouldn’t have worked for me personally. And to maintain momentum between our weekly sessions, Liz would map out a carefully thought through exercise programme that I could easily slot into my everyday routine and would keep a record of all progress which really spurred me on from week to week. The results have been outstanding. And more than that, they have been sustained. Running is still an important and embedded part of my routine today and that’s all down to Liz and her wonderful approach. Looking back, Liz’s programme became my routine without me even noticing! I couldn’t recommend her highly enough. She is amazing.
